Had the fish wrap combo, very delicious. It comes with a soda and two spring roll, they are little but very good. My husband had the orange chicken wrap which was more tasty than the fish wrap. The next time I go that's what I'll be ordering when I go back.

I really wanted to like this place because there aren't many good Thai places around. Horrible, terrible customer service. Couldn't deliver because my order was .05 cents short .. FINE. I ordered a soda when she tells me the total it was $19and change??!! The taste of the food which should be the most important is around 6/10 it doesn't have enough meat for the price either. This time around I ordered the Chicken Yellow Curry (which Its what I usually order) this time with Shrimp for $14.95 and called back to cancel because of the attitude I got on the phone. 100% of the time I order food no matter how big of a bitch the person on the phone is - I try to kiss their ass because they are dealing with my food, so I'm the nicest I can ever be. On to look for another place to order. Last time I ordered online (6 days ago) it was around $55 and when I went to pick it up the girl again was a total bitch. I've been to this place over 10 times .. And tonight it was my final attempt.

So glad there's a Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. I've ordered takeout for lunch with my coworkers twice now. Pretty decently priced. $8.95 for a lunch special that includes chicken pad thai, crab rangoons, and a drink. The pad thai was pretty good, hit the spot. I can't imagine how you could go wrong with pad thai. The crab rangoons were tasty too, and had the perfect amount of filling. Instead of crab rangoons, you can also get Thai rolls which I have yet to try. There's no sit-down except for two small tables, so it's not any sort of sit-down Thai restaurant. The service was quick. We got our food within ten minutes. You can also call ahead to order or order online. Parking can be tricky though, since it's all street parking, so you just have to get lucky. Added brownie points: the menu is in color and comes with pictures!

Okay, I love the basil shrimp fried rice...you can taste spiciness but not over whelming. The first my introduction to this place was Curry Fish-horrible, never tasted sweet and spicy broth in myself life. That's it

I was pleasantly shocked by how good this place was. It looked modern from the outside but not very authentic. I was wrong, I had very good pad thai and the lunch menu was a great deal. I had pad thai, a soda and some small spring rolls for under $8. There is not a lot of seating so it is best to do take out. I will be back.

Decided to try this place instead of our regular Thai takeout. Fried rice was pretty good. Yellow curry was OK but came with a tiny box of rice. I don't get serving a quart of curry with a half pint of rice. Pad Thai was awful. Mushy, tasteless mess. This place was also a little more expensive for Thai takeout in this area; $37 for the three dishes. Not going back.

I just moved back to the area after about 10 years of being away and I wanted to get some decent Thai take out. I didn't want anything fancy so I went here based on my previous experience from years ago, and the all of the positive reviews I was reading. I don't know what they did with their menu, and why everyone else is raving about this place, but I was extremely disappointed. To start with nothing that they list as spicy is actually spicy. I am sure they are looking at it as American's (especially north-easterners) cannot handle spicy but then they should give you the option of changing the level and accurately list the spicy level. Their meal selection overall was fairly limited, basically the same exact dishes with just a different meat in it. I got the Tom Yum Koong soup which was supposed to be spicy but instead was oddly sweet and was mostly broth with maybe two shrimp in the soup. The Basil Duck was breaded and deep fried and then thrown over some soft onions and peppers. The sauce was flavorless and the duck was so heavily breaded that there was barely any duck in the dish. I have had this dish at several different restaurants and this is the first time that I have ever had the duck breaded and deep fried. If they can't afford to offer duck then they need to take it off the menu and not charge $16 for deep fried breading. The only reason I gave this two stars was that it didn't make me sick just un-impressed.

So Thai Spice is amazing. The wait time is next to nothing and the food is amazing. I, by default, only order the chicken pad thai as I am a creature of habit, but also because it is delicious. It's not overdone in anyway just the right proportion of everything. I've never been disappointed in Thai Spice; their service always shine whether I get takeout or delivery. My friend's have ordered most of the other menu options and assure me they're delicious. Thai Spice is an asset to the neighborhood and I'm glad I get to eat your food.

Love this place. They do a tasty Pad Thai lunch special for 8.95 that comes with a drink and your choice of 2 crab rangoons or 2 small spring rolls. The Pad Thai is flavorful and saucy-- I don't know how authentic that is (compare to WonderSpice in JP which is more dry) but I really enjoy it

WOW! What a big disappointment. NEW OWNER TAKE NOTICE... The girl taking my order was supper friendly and even added some suggestions (one star). The place has been totally redone and looks great (second star). Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment which may be explained by the three teenage Caucasian kids cooking the food. No joke, open kitchen you can see the entire area. The drunken noodles were ok but the duck and beef dishes were bad we counted four slices of beef the balance was zucchini and snow peas. The chicken satay tasted nothing like any satay I've ever had. Thai food this is not. I'd avoid.

I wrote a review with one or two stars while ago. Then I got a response in Yelp from this place apologizing and promising refund. So I made a visit with the receipt on one very cold winter night. Since the shop was quite empty, I thought i would leave in 5 to 10 min with a refund. However, it became a very long night. The cashier denied any knowledge of it and demanded to see my email from my smartphone from Yelp which i did. she kept arguing same things over and over. Then she called someone(owner or manager?) on the phone and literally talked for longer than 30 min. she then explained that the management has changed and they are not responsible for the poor food quality and wrong order I received and only offered store credit. She also asked why i did not ask for the refund when i got the wrong foods. I told her that i asked for it but was refused. She then call that person again on the phone with my cell phone open in her hand for another 30 min. i had to asked her to return my cell phone to stop my data usage. I was really annoyed but i wanted to make this as the last trip and asked if I could use the store credit that night. However, I was not allowed since they want to verify that i took down the bad review before my use of store credit. There were 89 reviews in the yelp and i did not want to show all of them. . it was not the end of it. i came home and several weeks later, i called the store two times and waiting each time for 20 min to get the permission to use store credit. When I picked up the foods drenched with oil and sugar, i know it was my last time with this shop. They spent $15 to take down bad rating and I ended up spending additional $10 for the food and hours of annoyance. One should not force or manipulate others to take down a bad review, review should be genuine response to their service quality. Also beware consumers, do not think Chinese or Thai foods are less in colories than McDonalds. In one report, PF Chang's stir fired noodles are 2500 colories while burgers are 1800 colories. To make Thai spice drunken noodle this oily and sweet, you have to put tons of them.

Well, I totally meant to order on foodler from wonder spice in JP, but wasn't paying attention and ordered from thai spice. The sweet mango rice dessert was delicious. However, there was absolutely no mango in the mango curry. Instead there were whole (large) plum tomatoes. I'm back to WonderSpice next time....

13 bucks for Pad Thai is a bit steep, but it did hit the spot! The place is more of a take-out joint because they've got seating for 6 inside, but it's really only space for 4 people. The hostess/cashier was nice. And offered to take the trash out after also (no trash can inside for guests to dump their grub in).

After they changed hands the food was decent. I ordered 3 times and was happy with the food. Tonight we ordered 1 med entree and 1 appetizer. Took over an hour. The chicken was so dry it was almost inedible. We were given a paltry 2 oz cup of sauce that was supposed to cover the entire meal. Not happening. So we had dry overcooked chicken with plain steamed veggies and barely enough sauce to even lightly cover half. The calamari appetizer was overcooked, dry, old and had no dipping sauce. It tasted so old I am worried I will get food poisoning and wouldn't even feed it to my dog. We will never order from here again. This feast also cost $23.

I'm barely able to scrape together reviews for places like this. It's the typical disappointing Asian takeout. There isn't anything overtly bad about this place, not enough to turn away a drunk college student anyway, though I've gotten occasional gritty/sandy dishes. Perhaps from poorly cleaned vegetables. My overall disappointment is with the generic takeout fare and inexplicable decisions to toss random vegetables in every dish. It's wrong that most of the noodle dishes, all of the curry dishes, and probably 3/4 of the menu after that have the same medley of completely incompatible vegetables. Why put snow peas, broccoli, carrots and string beans together? The presence of this vegetable medley in dishes has been a strong indicator of terrible Asian food for me thus far, and Thai Spice can be classified as such. Just because this place is close by, I tried to ask for something different after several disappointing occasions. I asked the server about getting "Thai style" Penang curry (vaguely ironic since it's a thai interpretation of non-thai food). After she explained "Thai style" lacked the medley of vegetables, I could not for the life of me actually get the server to agree to provide me with what she herself was describing. The best I got was less vegetables. I've never scrutinized the noodle dishes, but suffice it to say they are not spectacular, reminiscent of cheap Chinese takeout plus some citrus and sugar I suppose. There definitely isn't all that much fish sauce.

Unfortunately, the quality of this establishment has slipped quite a bit since their renovation. Some of the food doesn't taste like it is fresh made to order- instead like it's old and preprepared. This feeling was supported when I saw my side of rice taken out of the walk-in and nuked. This was further supported by the texture of the pork dish that I just got- mealy. I think I might be done with this neighborhood establishment :(

We haven't ordered from Thai Spice in a while and we're really disappointed in our food tonight. The Basil Pad Thai had way less vegetables than it used to. No carrots or broccoli, just a couple onion slices and green pepper. We also asked for it to be not very spicy and it was so spicy it was inedible (and my husband likes very spicy food). Not sure what happened since we were last there but it has definitely changed.

I think the reviews on this place don't do it justice so I felt compelled to add a review to help drive up the average. We were loyal customers when it was under different ownership despite many problems because the food was so darn delicious we couldn't resist. Not to mention the generous portions for a great price. Now, under new ownership, the food is still delicious with the added bonuses of a quick order turnaround (now 15 min compared to 45-1 hr under past owner), friendly staff ( the previous owner seemed bipolar!), and a cleaner, more professional establishment. We especially love the yellow chicken curry and the pad Thai. We like this place much better than Phuket down the street. The food is more flavorful, portions more generous, and prices much more competitive. This is much better than the average Asian takeout, despite another reviewers comment otherwise!!

For the love of God, can someone please tell me where Maria - the previous owner - went to go work? I heard she's now working *for* a restaurant (probably near her home in Medford). This new version of the restaurant is garbage and not worth your money. ("Thai" food cooked by Chinese -- poorly.) What a shame... But I understand that it was getting tough for Maria and she probably was able to cash out nicely. Maria, if you read this, and you're working at some other Thai place, please tell me where! I'll drive to wherever you are! Heck, I'll pay you to come to my home to make your pad thai and coconut curry! Pleeeeease! It's a detective story, people, we have to find her...

My standard for Thai food is pretty high. After living for a few years in Las Vegas, where there are a bunch of really fantastic, cheap Thai places, I came to appreciate what Thai food can be. Sadly, the standard in Boston is far lower. I've tried a half dozen places with strong reviews on Yelp and found them all lacking. The best of the bunch was unambitious and unoffensive. Neither of these adjectives apply to Thai Spice. We ordered four dishes. The ranged from flavorless (vegetarian spring rolls) to repulsive (a tofu and veggie dish). I could go into greater detail, but why? If you've got two feet and a wallet you can find better food in any direction you might you go.

I ordered from here on a Tuesday night. The food took about 35-40 minutes to arrive, which is totally normal for the Boston area. The delivery girl was really sweet and called me when she got to the front door. I ordered pad thai and the fresh rolls. Both were DELICIOUS. The pad thai was a huge portion; big enough for two. The fresh rolls were 3, but nice and full and well made. I have no idea why people are complaining about the food from here. It's great. I have ordered from several other Thai places in the area and this place will be my first choice from now on!

This restaurant is under new ownership, the place is still good but sadly, it's just not the same :( Yelp says my update is too short, so here is the rest of my review. Everything has declined a little aka quality, portions and price but the service has increased. The new Thai Spice is much faster and way more accommodating but still, if given the choice between quality and convenience, I choose quality every time. I guess I am just an old fashioned, old fogey. In my opinion, this place is decent but not special like the old place.

Friendly and fast service and tasty fresh Thai food. If you are in Westie and want some Thai, look no further. Pad Thai is exactly what you would want in a good pad Thai and the pad see ew was excellent. We'll be back the next time we are looking for Thai.

HUGE portions!!!!!!!!!!! We ordered 2 entrees for dinner. We can't wait to finish it for lunch tomorrow. Everything is made to order...esp the all curry dishes. So it will take longer than most Thai places which has already made curry on hand. Be prepared to wait awhile, so I recommend calling in advance. Not much room for a sit down place. Its business consists of a take out and delivery. Its a husband and wife business and they will do anything to make you happy. Very nice and generous place to get your Thai on!

This was the worst Thai food I had every eaten. Thank God it was take out, and I could fix it up at home. The Tom Yum bland--I guess they didn't have galanga. The drunken noodle had more onions than noodles, was dry, tasteless--againI could fix it up at home. The most inauthentic of all is that Mexicans were doing the cooking. I verified this with the receptionist. I will never go back to this place. SHAME!

The bad: It's totally gorpy and bland, with the hot dishes guilty of the worst aspects of cheap Chinese take-out (oversweet, corn-starchy glop). The fresh rolls were notably odd in that they were basically just filled with a pound of lettuce and a couple of carrot shavings in a wrist-thick, burrito sized roll. Where's the interesting stuff that's supposed to be in there? Y'know, like flavor? Also they're either slow or really bad at estimating time. Was told food would be ready for pick-up in 20 minutes. Took 50 minutes. Thai Spice also has probably the least attractive atmosphere of any restaurant in Boston, so it's obvious that their main focus is delivery and take-out. The good (?): The food might be awful, but there's a lot of it!

I stopped here on my way home tonight. My order was hot and ready 15 minutes after I ordered. The staff is super friendly and the food was great. I had tofu drunken noodles with lots of veggies and veggie rolls. Everything was delicious! I will definitely be back to try other things.

So, I guess there had been a change in management or ownership, and the changes were a little rocky for a bit. There is still some inconsistency, and the portion size has definitely gone down, but they DO have vegetarian noodle soup again, and the seasoning and food quality was back up there, so I'm upping my review. And the online ordering is super easy plus the wait time for food is gone. We'll be back!

I was excited to see another Thai restaurant pop up around the neighborhood and decided to try it. I don't usually review restaurant places because everyone has different taste buds. However, if a place absolutely screws up something that's basic and... the service was poor I have to say something. First visit: I tried to order on their website, but that was horrendous. Nothing was loading correctly or logging my orders, so that was frustrating in itself. We arrived was not greeted right away; a bunch of people were sitting in the back kitchen glancing at us when we walked in, but for some reason it seems like it didn't dawn on them that we were customers (and there was but 1 other person in the place wiating for their food). After 5-10 min wait we were finally greeted (with no smile and seemed a bit of a downer) and ordered. We waited another 20-30 mins before we got our food. We ordered crab rangoons, chicken pad thai, and chicken curry. The food was good, but it wasn't bad. The rangoons tasted a tiny bit stale but it wasn't noticeable and the rest was decent. Second visit: I thought I give them another shot giving them the benefit of the doubt. On my way home I called in to place my order. I was greeted with a rude guy on the phone; very abrupt in asking what I wanted and hung up. No hello, thank you, or it'll be ready in whatever time. Off the bad it was a bad feeling. Finally arrived and was not greeted nicely either, but our order was ready by the time I got there. We ordered a chicken pad thai, chicken pad see-ew, and crab rangoons. Got home and disappointment sets in... * it looked horrendous and old * it was not fresh as everyone said it was * did not think a thai place can screw up pad thai or pad see-ew, but they did. * it had no flavor at all; very bland * crab rangoons were stale and kind of sour * smelled kind of sour I ate couple of bites and we had to throw all that food away cause it was disgusting. I couldn't believe it happened, but it did. I will not be going back there again. Best bet is to spend a little more and get Thai from Phuket

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! They did a re-model and decided that they'd start leaving their food in a metal tub all day, let it turn gross, and serve it in portions half the size they used to. It was our favorite place in Rozzie/West Roxbury. Now we won't be back. We're sad to lose it!

House Special Thai Fried Rice? Bringing back the 90s: "da bomb." And it's location other really good food joints is "totally awesome!" The workers there are "like, so cool and sweet," and they give you "ginormously" sized portions of that "good good."

best pad thai EVER. People are crazy about complaining about the wait time- there are WAY worse take out places in the area! Call ahead, its worth it. 1 table in the place- definitely a take-it-home type of place. They have been doing renovations for over a month now- looking forward to seeing the new thai spice!

The place has since remodeled since my last visit in 2008. Place looks great now. The Drunken Noodle is delicious...but the menu is a bit on the pricey side considering the portion size.

Well, I've given them a fair shot since the new management/owners took over and they have failed repeatedly. The food tastes great but please keep in mind I have been ordering the same meal from this place for about 10 years. Since the change in ownership I have received the incorrect meal several times and one time they put peanuts in our food. Not cool for a family who has a toddler with a severe peanut allergy. I returned to inform the manager of this potentially fatal error. Prior to this they have made mistakes such as not including chicken, white rice instead of brown rice, not labeling the containers so we have to taste test them when we get home do see which is mild and which is spicy. And on top of all of this the size of the meals have been cut in half and the price went up a few bucks. I'm going elsewhere.

The food is delicious. I would put them up against Rod Dee any day. The portions are huge. The prices are more than reasonable. They're usually busy on evenings, especially once the weekend hits, just call your order in for take out and wait the few minutes. It will be worth it and you will thank the yelp reviews while having your leftovers for lunch the following day (because I know you won't be able to finish a portion in one sitting).

The BEST takeaway Thai in Boston! Heck, the BEST THAI in Boston period! Just call well ahead of time to ensure your order is ready. They always underestimate when your order will be ready! Does anyone know why she cuts 1" off the top of the paper bags?

Tasty and fresh, two things I look most for in Thai food. Thai spice has both. I'm always impressed with the quantity and quality of veggies. Pad Thai is delicious. Add to that - Anna is the most friendly and helpful take out worker in all of west Roxbury.

I've walked in to place an order for take out. The lady said 45 minutes so I planned to do some errands and to pick it up and go home. So 45 minutes came around and I stepped in the door. They were very busy... people waiting for their orders to be ready. I wasn't sure if everyone just walked in to place an order or they have been waiting for so long. Anyways I waited for 15 more minutes then the lady asked what I ordered. (Shouldn't she remember I walked in to placed an order about an hour ago?!) I asked her if she even started my order and she said no. I was hungry, cranky and tired! All I wanted is to get take out and go home. She ruined my night! I was soo mad. The next day my boyfriend order the same thing we ordered that night and gave her a little of his mind. She was apologetic and gave us huge portions of food. We couldn't finish any of it. It was good but the whole experience just made me not wanting to go back. Best thing to do is go there, order your food and wait. You would get your food sooner. If she's asking what you ordered that means she didn't start it yet. Just make sure that your order is in if your on a tight schedule. I would give them another try but no time soon.

The place smelled great, but never did get to taste the food... We ordered when we arrived and was told 35 minutes. We walked around and came back on time, waited another 30 minutes in the place...at which time six or seven other folks arrived to pick up their orders...none of which was ready. During the entire time we were waiting...no orders ever left the place. We finally decided to just get up an leave when it was clear that our order was still pretty far down on the list. If they can't get their act together, we felt no obligation to hang around to pay for the food.

Mainly I'm just going to echo what others have said because it seems like the yelp reviews are spot-on. 1. The wait. It is NOT an exaggeration! I live about a block & a half from Thai Spice but I opted for delivery because I knew from reviews on here that these guys are notorious for their slow prep/delivery and I'd rather wait at home than over there. Anyways... I was thinking maybe a little over an hour and that was fine with me. No - it was TWO HOURS. Did I mention how close to them I live? 2. As you can see, despite the ridiculously long wait, I have still given them 4 stars. The food is that good. And, as other reviews say, the portions are HUGE. Not regular huge but unbelievably so. I am a gal who can eat a lot - especially when it tastes this good - and the food I ordered will still easily feed me for 3-4 days. Estimate 2-2 1/2 hr wait (probably less on a weeknight since today is Friday) and you might even get it "early".

Here's the one rule for Thai Spice: Take the ready time and multiply it by 4. If they say 15 minutes, then it's going to be an hour. 20 minutes = an hour and 20 minutes. If you can apply that multiplier to your order and stick to the rule then you're in for a nice treat with this place. Huge portions, fresh tasting and very affordable. The spicy chicken pad thai's got a nice kick and make sure to include the chili sauce on the side! Remember - multiply by 4 !

A friend and I ordered take out from Thai Spice, and based on other Yelpers' suggestions, took our time getting there. No complaints, though - our food was waiting for us after about 25 minutes. Granted, it was about 8:30 on a Wednesday night. Total dive inside - we were greeted by a lady sitting with her stocking feet up on a chair. I can relate; that is all I want to do after 7pm on a weeknight as well. Upon returning home, we discovered (2 of us with 1 appetizer and 2 entrees) that we had in fact ordered enough food for approximately 84 people. Seriously. I could've done challenging bicep curls with my Pad Thai. In addition to being very large, our meals were delicious. We had ordered the golden bags app purely because they were called golden bags, and were happy to find that they were indeed little bags tied up with some sort of edible grass thing. Crispy, filled with chicken and corn. Yums. Not that golden though. My choice was Pad Thai, which I realize is pretty safe and generic choice, but how can I ever resist noodles covered in peanut sauce? The answer is, I cannot. And, this pad Thai was some of the most flavorful I've ever had. My only wish was for more veggies. My friend's red curry was wildly good. Creamy, just spicy enough, and full fresh veg and enormous hunks of tofu. (Hate it when places skimp on tofu.) After I finish my leftovers, which will take many days, I am pumped to go back to Thai Spice and try out more of the menu.

Haven't been in a while due to the fact that Thai Spice was renovating. Ordered food for takeout, my usual chicken pad thai w/ vegetables. Since I wanted to add the veggies, didn't use their online order service. I was charged to add vegetables to my order, however, was sadly disappointed to realize they were not in my food when I got home. While Thai Spice had improved on the accuracy of their ability to have orders ready on time (we didn't have to wait beyond what was told), I'm disappointed with their lack of attention to detail with correctly making my order.

We placed an online order at Thai Space, and we waited 90 minutes for the order to be delivered. We called to check on the status (given the long wait time), and we discovered that while they received our order, it failed to transfer to their printer in order to be processed. So, the order was received but never processed. If we did not call, we would have been waiting indefinitely for our food. The manager explained that "sometimes this happens," did not offer an apology, and did not offer to compensate us for the inconvenience. Basically, there was no order placed and no food on the way. Do not use their online service, because it is obviously unreliable; the problem is that this business is willing to settle for unreliability without apology.

Pretty good pad thai noodles... especially for the portion size and price! I'm always craving it when i'm the area. The woman that is always there is really nice... not a dine in kind of place but i love take-out :) and they are horrible with timing! the last few times I've ordered here I've kept an eye out, they are pretty much twice as long as they tell you when your food will be ready. a little annoying, so don't call when you are hungry and anxious to eat!

Food is very good. Portions are on the verge of absurd. Seriously, every time we go, they have to use a second take out container to fit an entree. Wait time is pretty bad. We usually have to wait for 15-20 minutes after they tell us everything will be ready.

I love Thai food and have been eating it for years, so I was excited to find Thai Spice. I ordered from there last Friday night. I was told to pick up my order in 30 minutes. I arrived exactly on time, and had to wait an additional 30 minutes until I got my food! I kept asking the lady at the register how much longer, and each time she said "5 minutes." There were several other infuriated customers all waiting for their food, as well as people who kept calling asking where their delivery orders were. The answer each time was 5 minutes. One customer who was waiting told me that they do not start cooking your food until you get there. Then what is the point of calling ahead? When I finally got home with my food, I was disappointed yet again. The chicken basil Pad Thai was so spicy I could barely eat it (and I usually like spicy foods!). The wonton soup was very fishy smelling and tasting... not what I was expecting. Waiting one hour, being lied to by the front desk AND yucky food? I will definitely NOT be going here again.

Okay, I'be never been to Thailand, BUT this place is legit. We got a curry & drunken noodles and they were both brimming with veggies that were not over cooked. The meat was there but sparingly. Our order came with some great hot sauce on the side that was so good! I won't be ordering the fresh summer roles again. They were flavorless and the rice wrap was chewy & overwhelming. You can tell that this little restaurant is someone's dream & livelihood. I bet it is the petite & efficient woman in the kitchen. She seemed to be running the whole show the evening st were there.

I think West Roxburians (?) must be starved for good Thai because after hearing raves about this place online we tried it and it was super greasy and flavorless. Yes, big portions, big portions of greasy sub- par Thai food.
(2)

We have been going here for a few years and love the food. I would give it 5 stars except for the problem with the long prep time that most reviewers have covered in detail. The quoted ready times are soooo bad that we have taken to calling back a second time to ask if our order is ready before heading down to pick up. The quality and portion sizes easily offset the wait and parking issues as long as you are aware ahead of time

We've been waiting for an hour and a half for delivery. Called in after an hour to get updates... they lie on the phone. There has to be a special circle of hell for those who lie on the phone to hungry people. Bottom line: It's not worth it.

Despite our complaints about the slow service, and the fact that the "20 minutes" we're told on the phone usually takes 45+ minutes, we still keep ordering from Thai Spice. Why? It's possibly the tastiest Thai food we have ever had in Boston, and we can usually get at least two meals out of one order. The Jungle Curry is recommended, but it's REALLLLLY spicy. The Crazy Noodle is also great.

4 stars for the food!! The taste is amazing!! 2 stars for the service! It takes a while to get it but it's well worth the wait! I would suggest adding 30 mins on to your wait time dine in or take out. Food is excellent though. Out of this world! While waiting for food, other customers came in and said "first time? Food is great, timing you gotta figure out."

The food was good. I wouldn't say it was the best Thai food I have had but definitely up there. However what brought there score down was the fact that I waited and hour and fifty minutes to get my food delivered! That's just insane. There is a great Thai restaurant right outside my job in Cambridge that I will just hit on my way home from now on. I most likely will never go here again due to the wait. The food is decent. I will definitely say the food is much better than Phuket in Westie. Worth the wait if you were deciding between these two spots.

I live in a one bedroom third floor walk-up apartment overlooking FixMasters, just behind the old White Hen at the BPD rotary, right around the corner from this place and sometimes cooking my own food gets hard. So I want some good food. Easily the best Thai spice food in West Roxbury, let alone the whole area. Look out any other Thai spice restaurant, cause Thai SPice is here. I ordered my food with a really friendly phone takeout guy, I knew I was in good hands, dude said like 45 minute wait cause their "Bangin" which is cool, cause i was watching TV and picking up my girlfriend up from the train, which I knew in my head would take 45 minutes plus, so than BOOM, I shoot down there and pick up the food and boom right back home eating it in my kitchen and it was awsome. Great brown rice, chicken with cashews Nuts is outa this world, great presentation and service. Tight little pickup room but thats what I love. And you can kinda see the kitchen which I think is really cool. Everybody also is talkin about the big portions which I agree. Food for the next day. Boom! The lady works so hard and is very nice. I really like this place and recommend it to all my friends. Go get yourself some Thai Spice!

Huge portions....super nice owner....tasty......makes you happy and that's why the 5 stars. The wait time was quoted 30 minutes and she called me in 30 minutes - this was a Saturday night. Got crazy noodle, crispy basil chicken and red curry (yummy!). crazy noodle is not the best i've had but it's good. lots of veg in all the dishes.

Never again....No food, regardless of how great it tastes or how inexpensive it is, is worth this long of a wait. I have eaten here a handful of times over the past couple years, always waiting at least double the time that I had been told on the phone. Last week though, I had already been waiting close to triple the time, and I knew that my order wasn't even close to being ready. I told her to cancel my order, and left. If she had just told me they were really busy that night and that it would be a while, I would have appreciated that. Instead, the woman taking the orders chooses to lie to everyone who calls, and then hopes that they'll be fine with waiting knowing how good and cheap the food is. But like I said, no food is worth it. I wasted an hour and a half of my life waiting for some pad thai that probably would have never come out of that kitchen. Never again...

The food and the price are amazing, but tack on 15 minutes to the time you're quoted during the week, and 30 minutes on Friday and Saturday. I'm not exaggerating- she makes you wait and doesn't tell you what's up, so you're just standing in that tiny room, frustrated, with your mouth watering, thinking about how you were right on time. But yeah, the food is super good.

Here's the deal. Never show up until at least 20 minutes after they say it'll be done. Better to wait 40 minutes, if you don't mind the possibility that your food will have been waiting for you. The food is great, but they take forever to cook it and lie to you about how long it will take. As long as you know that going in (don't EVER plan to eat in the restaurant) then you'll be a happy customer.

Three stars for absolutely great food. Every kind of Thai noodle you might like including the particularly tasty Cripsy Chicken Pad Thai. Good size portions, 2 entrees can feed a person for days. I took the stars off because the service in this place the last few times I went was horrible. We called in the order for takeout and they said it would be ready in 30 minutes. When we arrived approximately 30 minutes later the woman behind the counter told us it would be ready in 2 minutes. 40 minutes later we got the food. Unacceptable, no matter how good the food is.

Was recommended this place. The reviews are right - you will wait and you will get a ton of food. I had pad thai and hubby had a crispy noodles dish. He thought his was only ok. While I enjoyed mine, Lams in Newton is better. However, I did get 4 meals out of it. It was Friday night at 5:30pm. I read the reviews and told hubby to call in our order before leaving. He called and they said "no wait." So hubby stopped in to order and waited 1 hour.

Be prepared for to wait for your food... about twice as long as the lady on the phone tells you. If you love Thai food and you aren't in a hurry, bring a book while you wait for your takeout, because they probably won't even start cooking your meal until you arrive at the restaurant AND tell them what you ordered. But once you finally get your food you'll understand why people keep coming here and why the rating is so high. The food is good, portions are large, prices are low, and you know it's always made fresh because you can see them making it while you wait!

Best Thai food in the Boston area. Yup, you heard me right, this tiny little hole with cheap eats has better that food than you'll find at Montien or Kao Sarn or any of those other overpriced places. Maybe the best thing i've ever eaten is the pla rad prik -- A huge filet of fish, lightly breaded, in a delicious chilli basil sauce with tons of sauteed red peppers, onions, and fresh basil. Just add some steamed rice noodles. I am so sad I no longer live anywhere near this place. I can't justify an hour of driving for takeout. If they delivered to Cambridge, I would be the happiest girl in the world.

LARGE Portions!!! I'm a pretty big eater and usually finish everything on my plate but here...I usually have a bit of leftovers. I usually get the Pad Thai with crispy chicken to go and they usually fill it up so much that the take out box doesn't close too well and they put a rubber band just to hold the box together. Also tried the country style pad thai which was a bit too flavorful for my taste so I couldn't eat too much all at once...so I ended up eating it at 3 different meals. Pad See Ew was good but it didn't have too much of the sweet flavor that I'm used to. The lady who works here is very sweet! You can tell she wants everything perfect for you so that you'll enjoy your order. The place is definitely more of a take-out place but they do have a few small tables. I think there's only one chef in the kitchen, so if you're getting take-out, definitely try calling 25 minutes in advance.
(4)
Brad H.
Best take-out Thai food in the area. They always under-estimate the pick up time, so if they say 15 minutes, give them 25. It's always been worth it for top notch Thai food though. Our go-to's are the spring rolls, the crab rangoons, sweet&sour chicken stir fry, masaman curry, and house fried rice. All good! The woman that works there is kind of awesome too.

Ever wish you could find that hole in the wall restaurant that is inexpensive, consistent and gives you huge portions of terrific food. Well you've found it at Thai Spice !! This place could not be better--I usually get it to-go you can count on everything being freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. This is the real deal, they don't order frozen Thai food from a restaurant supplier at this place... I call my order in and it's always ready when I get there. I have never had to wait-- Highly recommended ! You won't regret it.

This is one of the finest small Thai restaurants around. It has a small, attractive dining area with about three tables -- so it's business is primarily take out. The food is prepared to order in a tiny kitchen which doesn't seem big enough to turn around in. I'm amazed that they can operate a restaurant out of a space that is smaller than most residential kitchens. Thai Spice's food has always been fresh, well-prepared and authentically spicy as requested. Pick up three copies of their take-out menu and keep one at home, one at the office, and one in your car so that you can call in your order whenever the mood for Thai cuisine strikes. Update as of 5/10/2012: Everything said about the long wait is true. Call in an order for pick-up and be told 45-minutes, get there and wait another 45-minutes. Last Saturday, I was so frustrated, I swore I would never order there again.... until I got the food home and realized that it is among the best Thai food I have eaten. So I guess the question is: "Do you want it fast or do you want it right?" The long waits are a result of a postage-stamp sized kitchen and a staff of two. And, while I was waiting, I overheard one of the other customers being told that it would not take that long to cook a particular dish, but that he'd have to wait because the chef was using the pan and when he was done it would take a few minutes to wash it. Yep, just like a home kitchen. And maybe that's why the food is so good.

Inexpensive. Clean. Fast. Tasty. Not too sweet. Nice people too! (Perfect for takeout or delivery only though)

Almost impossible to order , over hour and still no food. Called and they claimed they had a "kitchen mishap." Still took another 20 plus min. Food was tasty but took far too long to deliver-Nearly two hours and they did not offer any break on the price. Bah.

Amazing food; odd take out services BUT the chef is really accomodating. Orders are huge and always exceptional. This place is a KEEPER, THE BEST, even though West Roxbury doesn't understand the the cultural differences!!!

Thai spice rocks. I'm a big fan of Thai food, and have tried many Thai restaurants in and around Boston, and truly this one is up there with the best of them. There are a few dishes that I'm not impressed with, but I have a feeling I wouldn't be impressed with them at any restaurant. Definitely try the steamed dumplings. They are fabulous! They deliver - which is completely wonderful, and they are always pleasant if you pick up or when they come to your home. Note: at times their deliveries take longer than quoted, so be sure you don't need the food in any rush.

The food is good. I ordered from them three times. The last time was a Friday night at 7:30 and I did not get my food till after 9.There were many other customers waiting also. One customer told them to call him when it was ready. They called he came in and still waited a half hour. I watched all of this while I sat there and waited. They could be a very good restaurant if they got organized. They need to hire someone to manage and possibly make some remodeling changes. Don't order at peak times and you might be alright. The other 2 times I ordered were in the middle of the week after 8 so it was ready on time.

They didn't deliver when I lived here which was a big bummer, but they were worth the drive to pick up. The food is damn fine Thai! They have good sauces and quality is consitant with everything! everyone I know is obsessed with their curry, especially the massaman!

Unfortunately the food here is very good. I say unfortunately because every ridiculous thing you read about the wait time is true! We have gone here about four times, and only once was our food ready within 30 minutes. We had even tried to start outsmarting them and calling in the order only to leave to pick it up 45 minutes later. Well, everyone must do this because they don't start making your food until you get there so you are still waiting 45 minutes or more on top of the time you already waited after calling in the order. And they NEVER apologize. This is a nightmare for the average person but try handling this with hungry children in tow. The food is good but not that good.

Thai Spice has to have the worst customer service in the history of restaurants. They lie to their customers constantly about delivery time. As I speak, its been almost two hours since they told me that my food would be here. When I called, they gave me the usual run around and the man I spoke to, I heard say to the woman who apparently runs the place, "I have someone who is giving me a hard time". Me giving THEM a hard time after two hours of waiting???? What universe are they living in? When the food arrives, if it ever does, I am going to refuse it...and I am never going to order from them again. Why don't all the people who have complained here, like I do, call the Attorney General of Massachusetts and lodge a complaint against this establishment? Please, fill out a form online and I assure you, the AG's office will take you seriously. They get away with murder and no one ever seems to do something about it. I intend, on Monday , to lodge a formal complaint...if we all did, they'd be either out of business or finally treat the people who pay their bills with respect.

I've tried Thai Spice twice...the food is actually very good-- large portions and fairly reasonable prices. The chicken satay is very fresh and well-spiced. Their entrees in general have tons of fresh vegetables (too many carrots-- why are there always carrots?) We tried take out once-- we were told that it would be ready in 25 minutes-- but when we arrived, we had to wait an additional 35 minutes, without an apology! On the other hand, while on the phone prior to the wait, they apologized profusely for not having delivery available...It may take a little while before I'll try there again, but I'm a sucker for food, so I probably will end up going back!

Got a couple of dishes delivered last night. This was my first time trying Thai Spice. The delivery was extremely quick. The Crazy Noodle was very spicy but it was pretty good. The Crab Rangoon was also good.

Awful place! Tried to get take out. Waited over an hour to go pick it up than it wasn't even ready. They were mad at us because we were upset. Waited for 45 minutes and it wasn't even ready! We peered into the kitchen and saw unsantirary conditions. Food was prepared in the same sink that the mop had just been rinsed out in. Disgusting! Never will go! If you are looking for a Thai place, go to Phuket. Right across from the Bank of America on Center St. Near the Highland Commuter Rail stop.

Thank heavens I found this place! There are few good asian restaurants, especially in and around JP, but this Thai jewel is fantastic! And the Deliver (so rare!) Great food, Great prices. I've eaten there once, very low key, a few tables, not much atmosphere, but they were so nice! Sometimes they give you a free special dessert too! LOVE this place!

We had a very bad experieince here. First of all, our take out order was not ready when promised (15-20 minutes turned into 45 minutes). They were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. When we finally got our food home, the soup was overly fish-saucey and inedible. Our order of fresh rolls, normally abundant with fresh mint and/or basil, had no taste. The rest of the order was mediorcre. I went back the next day with the uneaten soup and rolls to ask for a replacement and/or money back. I was told in no uncertain terms that the rolls are SUPPOSED to have no taste, ("NO TASTE, NO TASTE. NOT SUPOSED TO HAVE ANY TASTE. NOTHING I CAN DO") and the soup is "ALWAYS SAME. VERY MUCH FISH SAUCE.". Bancock Bistro (Rozzie Sq.) here I come! Will never return to Thai Spice.

That's it
(4)Heather V.
(4)Brian D.

(5)Jess S.
Love this place. They do a tasty Pad Thai lunch special for 8.95 that comes with a drink and your choice of 2 crab rangoons or 2 small spring rolls. The Pad Thai is flavorful and saucy-- I don't know how authentic that is (compare to WonderSpice in JP which is more dry) but I really enjoy it
(4)Mark W.

(2)Theodore Y.
(3)Ashley J.

I think I might be done with this neighborhood establishment :(
(2)victoria m.
(2)Kate B.

Delicious curry puffs, drunken noodles and pad Thai. And with online ordering you can customize the spice and they are always right on! Nice people too!

(1)Kate M.

(3)Anthony D.
Friendly and fast service and tasty fresh Thai food. If you are in Westie and want some Thai, look no further. Pad Thai is exactly what you would want in a good pad Thai and the pad see ew was excellent. We'll be back the next time we are looking for Thai.
(4)Ashley T.
Management has changed, food is not as good...
(2)Cindy W.

SHAME!
(1)Tom M.

(5)Nicole D.

(1)Julia N.
House Special Thai Fried Rice? Bringing back the 90s: "da bomb." And it's location other really good food joints is "totally awesome!" The workers there are "like, so cool and sweet," and they give you "ginormously" sized portions of that "good good."
(5)Amanda M.
best pad thai EVER. People are crazy about complaining about the wait time- there are WAY worse take out places in the area! Call ahead, its worth it. 1 table in the place- definitely a take-it-home type of place. They have been doing renovations for over a month now- looking forward to seeing the new thai spice!
(5)Janie L.
The place has since remodeled since my last visit in 2008. Place looks great now. The Drunken Noodle is delicious...but the menu is a bit on the pricey side considering the portion size.
(3)Brian M.
(1)Rax P.
(4)Stan P.
Too bad. Went down hill after it was sold.
(2)Cheng Bin Z.
Food is ok but service is super slow. Typical wait time is 1 hour.
(2)Rick S.
The BEST takeaway Thai in Boston! Heck, the BEST THAI in Boston period! Just call well ahead of time to ensure your order is ready. They always underestimate when your order will be ready! Does anyone know why she cuts 1" off the top of the paper bags?
(5)Josh K.
Tasty and fresh, two things I look most for in Thai food. Thai spice has both. I'm always impressed with the quantity and quality of veggies. Pad Thai is delicious. Add to that - Anna is the most friendly and helpful take out worker in all of west Roxbury.
(4)Marly T.
(3)Buffy and E.

(4)D C.
(4)Kestrel D.
(4)Kate P.
(3)Shelly R.
(1)Van N.
(4)Mike M.
Food is very good. Portions are on the verge of absurd. Seriously, every time we go, they have to use a second take out container to fit an entree. Wait time is pretty bad. We usually have to wait for 15-20 minutes after they tell us everything will be ready.
(4)Mary P.
(1)Asta S.
(4)Anna K.
I think West Roxburians (?) must be starved for good Thai because after hearing raves about this place online we tried it and it was super greasy and flavorless. Yes, big portions, big portions of greasy sub- par Thai food.
(2)Tom C.
We have been going here for a few years and love the food. I would give it 5 stars except for the problem with the long prep time that most reviewers have covered in detail. The quoted ready times are soooo bad that we have taken to calling back a second time to ask if our order is ready before heading down to pick up. The quality and portion sizes easily offset the wait and parking issues as long as you are aware ahead of time
(4)Olga Y.
We've been waiting for an hour and a half for delivery. Called in after an hour to get updates... they lie on the phone. There has to be a special circle of hell for those who lie on the phone to hungry people. Bottom line: It's not worth it.
(2)Andrea H.
(4)Justin M.
(4)Bridget C.
(3)Paul T.
(5)Shin Z.
(5)J K.
(1)mia d.
(4)Gary C.
(4)Daphne M.
(3)Bear Paw B.
(2)Jeff V.
(4)Orly M.
(5)Adri Y.
(4)Brad H.
(5)Janie T.
(4)Old Bear ..
(5)Jess L.
Inexpensive. Clean. Fast. Tasty. Not too sweet. Nice people too! (Perfect for takeout or delivery only though)
(5)David F.
Almost impossible to order , over hour and still no food. Called and they claimed they had a "kitchen mishap." Still took another 20 plus min. Food was tasty but took far too long to deliver-Nearly two hours and they did not offer any break on the price. Bah.
(1)Mary H.
Amazing food; odd take out services BUT the chef is really accomodating. Orders are huge and always exceptional. This place is a KEEPER, THE BEST, even though West Roxbury doesn't understand the the cultural differences!!!
(5)Rebecca C.
(4)boston y.
have taken out a few times but last night's were out of the world. Had green curry with chicken, bangkok noodles and tom yum soup.. Please keep up the good work
(5)Jon P.
(2)Julie A.
They didn't deliver when I lived here which was a big bummer, but they were worth the drive to pick up. The food is damn fine Thai! They have good sauces and quality is consitant with everything! everyone I know is obsessed with their curry, especially the massaman!
(4)A K.
Good, inexpensive Thai takeout.
(3)Ray R.
(2)D. R.
